Greater Mondawmin TAP Project

Working with the nonprofit organization ARTblocks and artist Barbara Thompson, the Greater Mondawmin community is creating a colorful procession of life-size elephant sculptures on the median of Gwynns Falls Parkway opposite the entrance to Druid Hill Park.  The elephants will be constructed of recycled materials with painted trompe l'oeil and patterned surfaces.  Community partners include the Friends of Druid Hill Park, the Howard P. Rawlings Conservatory, the Mondawmin Neighborhood Association, and the Greater Mondawmin Coordinating Council.

In the artist's studio - drawings and the beginnings of construction.

Residents and school children make mosaics for the sculptures.

The elephants come to life!
